How to rate on a first date

Even if dating isn’t anything new to you, the age-old problem of first date jitters can still take its toll. If you need a first date brush-up course, read on! We’ve got some tips to help you the grade!

  1. For a polished presentation, allow plenty of time to prep for your date. Be sure to choose an outfit that makes you feel confident and comfortable! Use makeup to accentuate your best features, not to provide a false front! For a fragrant finishing touch, sprinkle your parfume
  2. Look who’s talking! Make sure to make eye contact when your date is speaking to you. If your eyes wander, he may think you’re not interested in him or what he has to say.
  3. Steer clear of a stroll down memory lane- especially if the landmarks are all the wonderful places other dates have taken you.
  4. Don’t turn into a walking, talking complaint department if the date doesn’t run perfectly smooth. Rather than becoming a negative influence, handle any dating glitches with humour.
  5. Five-minute warning! Don’t spend an unnecessary amount of time in the ladies’ room. Remember that there’s someone patiently awaiting your return!.
  6. Don’t spend lot of time talking about other girls especially if it’s gossipy commentary. The girl he’s most interested in knowing about is you!
  7. Consider offering to pay for something during your date(popcorn, peanuts etc at the movies or a drink as you stroll through the mall). If he picks up the tab, be sure to thank him!
  8. An introductory offer; if you should run into someone you know, remember to introduce your date so he doesn’t feel left out.
  9. Stick with the present tense. View a first date as an event in and of itself. Don’t speculate too much about where it all may lead.
  10. If your date seems especially nervous as your time together draws to a close, he may be suffering from a good-night-kiss crisis. If you make a point of being relaxed, he’s likely to follow your lead and feel more at ease.

So open up that book of love and memorise these strategies. When the time comes for that first date, you’ll pass the test with flying colors.

Skin Care at Bedtime

Supplement your beauty sleep by using a night cream to boost your skin’s natural repair process and keep it looking healthier. It is very important to remove your make-up before you go to bed no matter how tired you are or how late it is. Stale make-up not only feels horrible in the morning, it can also clog your skin, leading to spots and blackheads.

Massage cleanser in with your fingertips then tissue or wash off. Use a complementary toner to remove last traces of cream or lotion. If you have time, leave your skin to breathe for five minutes or so before you apply your night cream. Most modern products are very concentrated despite their light texture, so you only need a tiny amount. Avoiding the eye area, massage it over your skin with your fingertips, using gentle upwards movement until it’s all absorbed.

Finally dot a little eye gel around your eyes to tone and moisturise the thinner, more delicate skin here. Most night creams are too rich and can make your eyes puffier rather than reducing unwanted bags.

Why your skin needs a goodnight’s rest

Too many late nights and even the best behaved skin starts to look a bit the worse for wear. Dark circles around your eyes and a dull, lifeless look go hand in hand with fatigue. Studies of chronobiology (the science of body rhythms and how they affect your skin) show that although cell renewal is a continuous process, it peaks during the early hours of the morning as body rhythm. By measuring the increased oxygen consumtion of skin cells in the laboratory we’ve found out that cellular activity increases by 10 to 20 per cent between 1am and 4am.

A lack of sleep means your skin has lees time to repair itself and its appearance starts to suffer. And just by using a night cream regularly, you’ll bring benefits to your skin. A chemist says, with dry skin we’ve noticed that he epidermis becomes thicker because the outer layers are not shed. If you moisturise well at night and morning, your skin will renew itself more quickly and begin to look younger and softer.
